For processes in pharmaceutical process
engineering, in actives production and for
the synthesis of highly pure, fine chemicals,
a special glass type is often used today,
which is generally referred to as "Pharma
Glass".
Pharma Glass can be easily recognized by
its light blue color and is characterized
not only by its high chemical resistance
in the low pH range, but also by an improved
resistance against attacks in the alkali
range.
Pharma Glass was specifically made more
resistant to higher pH values in order to
better withstand the frequent use of alkali
detergents in CIP cleaning of production
plants.
And finally, the bright color of the glass
helps to detect possible contamination and
residues more easily and safely.
