Baffles are necessary to prevent rotation of the liquid in an agitated reactor. Without baffles, the agitator's tangential speed would be transmitted to the liquid inside the reactor, and the liquid would rotate together with the agitator at almost the same speed. However, it would not be mixed.

A distinction is made between different systems which mainly differ in terms of the scope of their additional functions.

Flange mounted beavertail baffles made by THALETEC

Flange mounted beavertail baffles are used as a standard in glass lined apparatus today. A flattened tube, optionally with integrated sensors, is installed through the baffle nozzle(s) of the glass lined apparatus. For glass lined apparatus to DIN 28136, baffles have been standardized in DIN XXXXX.
In addition, TE offers extended beavertail baffles which even take effect when the liquid level left in the apparatus is very low.
Baffles made by TE can be equipped with plug-in or fused-in temperature probes as well as glass monitoring probes.


THALETEC MultiTube

The THALETEC is a baffle with an integrated dip pipe. This system is a combination of a flange mounted baffle and a dip pipe.

In addition, the THALETEC MultiTube may also be equipped with a fused-in temperature probe or glass monitoring probe.

As a special design, a heated version of the THALETEC MultiTube is also available.



THALETEC BafflePort

The THALETEC BafflePort was designed as a result of the systematic further development of the flange-mounted beavertail baffle. In order to use the baffle nozzle for a number of functions, the TE BafflePort has an additional nozzle DN 50 at the baffle flange through which liquids or solids can be introduced to the ideal point of the stirred liquid.

Baffles according to third-party standards

In addition to DIN or TE baffles with maximum length, we can also manufacture and reglass baffles according to the standards and designs of third-party manufacturers.

These include, for example

  • Finger baffles
  • D baffles
  • Fin baffles (normal baffle design in U.S. reactors)
